700 MILES!
I have officially hit 700 miles, which means we are about 13% of the way toward our 5,200-mile goal! One mile at a time.
Because we’re doing this ride virtually, those 700 miles would have carried us across the California border, near Redding, California. It’s pretty amazing to think about how far we’ve already traveled, and how much farther we have to go!
This journey has stretched me far beyond my comfort zone. I think about Wayne with every mile because he was always challenging me to do hard things. And let me tell you…this is hard. There are days when my bodyi is tired, my schedule is full, and I just don’t feel like getting on that bike. But then I remember why I started, and I keep pedaling.
One mile at a time. One family at a time. One story at a time.
We’re riding to bring awareness to brain cancer and to support families whose lives have been forever changed by this devastating disease.
Brain Cancer Fact of the Day:
An estimated 1.3 million Americans are living with a brain tumor, and more than 108,000 people were diagnosed in 2016. Behind every number is a person. Behind every diagnosis is a family whose world has been turned upside down.
That’s why I carefully chose two organizations to raise money for with this ride. They represent two important sides of this fight. You can find links to their fundraising pages in the drop down menu.
National Brain Tumor Society — working to advance research, increase awareness, and fight for better outcomes for those affected by brain tumors.
Inheritance of Hope — walking alongside families facing a life-threatening diagnosis, helping them create lasting memories and find hope in the midst of heartbreaking circumstances.
This ride is about so much more than miles. It’s about remembering Wayne, honoring his passion, raising awareness, supporting families, and keeping hope moving forward.
